BarkBuddy

BarkBuddy is a mobile app that helps dog owners connect and set up playdates with compatible dogs nearby. It started with research into how owners currently socialize their pets, which showed a clear gap: most existing apps focus on health tracking or finding pet-friendly spots, not actually helping dogs make friends. That insight shaped the user flows and wireframes, with an emphasis on quick, intuitive navigation and connections that actually feel meaningful.

Custom filters for breed, age, size, and distance help ensure matches make sense, taking into account both the dog's personality and what the owner is looking for. The interface stays clean, colorful, and approachable, with an energetic orange-and-blue palette that feels friendly without being overwhelming. Rounded typography adds to that same sense of warmth, making the whole app feel safe and welcoming. Messaging and profile features were designed with real use in mind too, supporting verification, staying organized, and making it easy to plan anything from a one-off meetup to a regular routine.

After plenty of prototyping and refinement, the app ended up working well for a wide range of dogs, shy rescues, energetic puppies, senior dogs who just want a calm friend nearby. The final result is a platform that genuinely encourages community, helps people connect, and celebrates the bond between pets and their owners.
